Cookie Policy
Plain-language summary
Capsure uses only strictly-necessary cookies for login, security, and guest upload attribution, plus one optional functional cookie for affiliate referral attribution. We don't run advertising cookies or analytics trackers. You can manage your preferences any time from the footer.
This Cookie Policy explains how Capsure (operated by Brilliant Monkey, LLC) uses cookies and similar technologies. It supplements our Privacy Policy.
1. What are cookies?
A "cookie" is a small text file stored on your device when you visit a website. "Local storage" is a similar technology that stores data in your browser. Together, these technologies let a site remember information about you between visits — such as whether you are logged in.
2. Cookies and local-storage items Capsure uses
| Name | Type | Category | Set by | Purpose | Expiration |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
ory_kratos_session | HTTP cookie (HTTP-only, Secure) | Strictly necessary | Capsure (via Ory Kratos) | Authentication session for Hosts, Affiliates, and Admins | Session + idle timeout |
capsure_guest_id | Browser local storage | Strictly necessary | Capsure | Anonymous Guest identifier used to attribute uploads and likes | Until the browser clears site data |
Affiliate referral cookie (e.g., capsure_aff) | HTTP cookie | Functional | Capsure | Attributes a conversion to an affiliate's referral code when the referred user later pays | 60 days |
| CSRF token | HTTP cookie | Strictly necessary | Capsure | Protects against cross-site request forgery | Session |
We do not use third-party advertising cookies, cross-site tracking pixels, or analytics trackers such as Google Analytics, Meta Pixel, LinkedIn Insight, Mixpanel, Amplitude, PostHog, Segment, or Hotjar.
3. Categories
We organize cookies into four categories for transparency:
- Strictly necessary — required for the Service to function (login, security, guest identification). Cannot be disabled.
- Functional — enable optional features such as affiliate attribution.
- Analytics — not currently used.
- Advertising — not currently used.
4. Your choices
- Cookie banner. The first time you visit Capsure, a banner asks for your cookie preferences. You can accept, reject non-essential cookies, or open the preference center.
- Preference center. At any time, you can open the preference center from the footer ("Cookie Preferences") or in your account at dash.capsureapp.com/settings/privacy.
- Browser controls. You can disable or delete cookies in your browser. Disabling strictly-necessary cookies will break login and guest upload.
- Global Privacy Control. We honor the GPC browser signal (
Sec-GPC: 1) as an opt-out of any sale/sharing/targeted advertising, for jurisdictions where that applies.
5. Consent posture by jurisdiction
- EU / EEA / UK / Switzerland. We load only strictly-necessary cookies before you give consent. You must affirmatively opt in to any non-essential cookie (including the affiliate referral cookie) before it is set. You can withdraw consent at any time from the preference center. Basis: ePrivacy Directive Art. 5(3) and GDPR Art. 6(1)(a).
- United States. Because we do not sell data, do not run targeted advertising, and do not use analytics trackers, no U.S. opt-in is required. You can still reject non-essential cookies at any time.
- Canada. We rely on implied consent for strictly-necessary cookies consistent with PIPEDA and Office of the Privacy Commissioner guidance; you can reject the affiliate cookie at any time.
6. Changes
We will update this Cookie Policy when we add or remove technologies. The Effective Date and the change log below will be updated.
